I've been editing the anime show topics, but I've been trying to minimize spoilers by adding show/hide boxes in the plot and sorting characters and mecha by their initial faction rather than the faction they would later join, even if a switch happens pretty early. Do you guys actually mind this or would prefer to just blast as much info as possible and compromise the plot to future readers?

So it comes to my attention that some titles have been released under multiple names in English and I don't want to cringe by myself and figure out which to decide on as the main article names. So I want to see which title you guys are more familiar with. This also applies to some series that have been given better translated names than the Western distributors themselves...
===Mobile Suit Gundam Wing or New Mobile Report Gundam Wing===
Did some research and this has been released with both names. Those who are from the states and watched Cartoon Network like me are more familiar with Mobile Suit Gundam Wing while those who may have watched remastered versions may have seen the other title being used. Which one should akurasu use? I'm leaning towards Mobile Suit Gundam Wing, but I don't want my personal bias in there so help me x_x

^Zephyrantes: Luckily Gundam Wing was spared from having its name butchered beyond repair for the most part.
A Gundam: I think mobile suit is better to use

For the really old series that haven't been picked up by subbers and Western distributors and subbers that are minimalists and don't really translate the full title. Stick to romanji or use its literal English translation as the title?

Since we've gathered the info for the F final mod in a neat little google doc i was wondering if we should make it a page now. It would save a whole lotta time and maybe allow people to discover the mod without us raving in the discord about it

~Mattman324: Honestly, it depends on the case and the area where it is. I mean, I've put up Zettai Muteki Raijin-Oh in some areas of the site and Absolutely Invincible Raijin-Oh in others.  That said, some things need translation pretty much everywhere (Armored Trooper VOTOMS)
Make pages for [https://gundam.fandom.com/wiki/Zeta_Gundam_Mobile_Suit_Variations Z-MSV] and [https://gundam.fandom.com/wiki/Kunio_Okawara_Collection M-MSV] to list the units that appear?


EDIT:  Actually, revising that.  The Series Lists should have 3 columns, one with Japanese name (say, 真(チェンジ!!)ゲッターロボ~世界最後の日 ), one with a translated English name (Change, Shin Getter Robo!!  The Last Day Of The World), and one with an official name (Getter Robo Armageddon).  With a few series the latter two would be the same, but it would help in a few cases (Godannar, for instance - the title literally translated is "Newlywed/Marriage Combining Godannar" but the English title is the cooler sounding "Marriage of God and Soul Godannar")

I feel like we could use a page like this to standardize the edits we make and ask for help rather than make fall into a cycle of overwriting each others edits in the future. This will fall outside the checklist stuff since this will mostly involve the nitpicky stuff.

To make this page actually useful:

  • Avoid calling out other fellow editors. They're trying to contribute too!
  • You can run editing polls to see what the majority would prefer in your edits and get some input. Don't bother trying to cheat the vote counts since we all have access to past revisions...
