The Londo Bell' (ロンド・ベル Rondo Beru) is a Earth Federation Forces special task force from Mobile Suit Gundams Universal Century Timeline. The Londo Bell's purpose is to investigate and combat anti-Federation threats. This can range from remnant Zeon loyalists to terrorists that threaten the Federation's authority. The Londo Bell replaces the defunct Titans: the previous special organization that had similar objectives, but greatly misused and abused their power. In Super Robot Wars, the Londo Bell serves as the temporary or permanent umbrella organization for all the allied factions with the common goal of protecting the Earth from hostile threats.

History

The Londo Bell was formed in U.C. 90 during the aftermath of the First Neo Zeon War depicted in Mobile Suit Gundam ZZ. Since the Federation Forces were weakened due to infighting between the Titans and anti-Titans forces, the Earth Federation had little choice but to appease Haman Karn and her Neo Zeon forces during the First Neo Zeon War. With the forces of Neo Zeon greatly weakened in the aftermath, the Earth Federation takes the opportunity to create a new task force to prevent a repeat of the events of the First Neo Zeon War and take a stand against future threats against the Federation. The ensure that a repeat of the Titans would not occur again, Bright Noa would be selected to head the Londo Bell with the majority of its initial members coming from the Anti-Earth Union Group and Karaba that opposed the Titans' methods and usurping of power within the Federation. The mobile suit teams would be lead by the renown ace pilot, Amuro Ray in the case of escalated armed conflicts involving mobile suits. The Londo Bell would also have an established headquarters in the Londenion Colony in Side 1.

While the Londo Bell would serve the Federation diligently, they were initially understaffed and did not have much of an impact due to anti-Federation supporters purposely hiding evidence of any wrongdoing. It was not until U.C. 93, during the events of Mobile Suit Gundam: Char's Counterattack when the sudden return of Char Aznable and the occupation of the Sweetwater Colony prompted the Federation into expanding the combat and personnel effectiveness of the Londo Bell in anticipation of an armed conflict. Conflict would eventually break out in what was called the Second Neo Zeon War, where Char was plotting to drop the asteroid facility, Axis, onto the Earth. The Londo Bell, through what seemed to look like a miracle, managed to avert the disaster from happening at the cost of a majority of its pilots, including Amuro Ray.

In U.C. 96, during the events of Mobile Suit Gundam Unicorn, the Londo Bell investigates the rise of the remnant Zeon faction known as the Sleeves and the search for Laplace's Box: something that was rumored to be able to completely break apart the Federation if it fell into the wrong hands. The Londo Bell's main objective was to secure the Unicorn Gundam, which had the La+ Program that served as the key to finding the location of Laplace's Box. However, the motives and actions from both the upper echelons of the Federation gave the Londo Bell a grave warning that something was extremely suspicious about Laplace's Box. This would result with the opening Laplace's Box and the arrest of those involved with covering up its existence.

While the Londo Bell would still be in service, in it exactly unclear whether or not the unit still exists in the later Universal Century.
