Characters

Hieda no Akyuu + Early Kosuzu sub-pilot

• Scenario 4 Reimu's route: Move Akyuu to the squares with the flowers.
• Scenario 50: A choice dialog will show up after the scenario. Choose the second option (弾幕戦に挑戦してみたいです).

She will join you after Scenario 50 as a stand-alone unit. This is unavailable on Marisa's route.

Does NOT carry over in NG+, but Japanese wiki states the option will show up on Stage 50 both routes on NG+ even without fullfilling the condition. (Needs verification)

Lily Black

• Scenario 28 Reimu's route: Have Lily defeat an enemy. This will add 3 Lily points.
• Scenario 38 Marisa's route: Have Lily defeat an enemy. This will add 3 Lily points.
• Scenario 46: Have Lily defeat an enemy. This will add 3 Lily points. If the total amount of Lily points is 4 or more, she will receive the costume after Stage 61.

Lily White will be able to switch to her Lily Black form in the Intermission menu after Scenario 61. Carries over in NG+ if unlocked in any previous save.

Old costumes for Reimu / Marisa

• Scenario 55: Reimu / Marisa must have 100 or more kills respectively. Having 100 kills on one unit does not unlock the old costume for the other unit. Route does not matter.

Reimu and/or Marisa will then deploy in Scenario 56 in their old costumes, and be able to switch between the old and new costumes after the scenario. These forms retain the new unit stats (but with 50 less Armor) and the old weapons, except each unit also gains a new MAP weapon. Carries over in NG+ if unlocked in a previous save.

Hidden friendship levels

There are a few hidden opportunities to gain extra friendship levels between certain characters, though most are exclusive to the Marisa route.

• On Stage 2M, use the Persuade (説得) option with Marisa when you are next to Alice. This ends her spellcard without capturing it (or giving you the EXP or item), but increases their friendship levels with each other permanently.

• On Stage 20M, use the Persuade (説得) option with Marisa and then Alice when you are next to Nitori (and before activating her spell card). This increases Nitori and Marisa's friendship with each other by one level permanently.

• On Stage 29M, the choice at the start of the stage (of who leads the rescue team) affects who gets a friendship level boost with Marisa. Alice, Nitori, or Patchouli can permanently increase their friendship levels with Marisa by one this way (though Alice and Marisa's levels cap out at 3 so doing both Stage 2M and this will only result in two boosts for Alice).

• On Stage 59, Murasa and Ichirin can each use the Persuade (説得) option on Nue to permanently increase their friendship level with her by one.
