Story
One day, a giant beast classified as a Heterodyne causes havoc and mayhem in Japan. Conventional weapons are proven to be ineffective, and as a last resort, the military reluctantly uses weapons of mass destruction on it. This also did not leave a scratch on it, and the destruction caused by the bombing and Heterodyne forces the military to invest in a new type of weapon: the giant robot Dai-Guard. Ironically, once the Dai-Guard was complete, there have been no signs of Heterodyne. To cut down on costs during peacetime, the military turns over Dai-Guard back to the company that built it: the 21st Century Defense Security Corporation. 12 years later, the 2nd Public Relations Division of the 21st Century Defense Security Corporation are out promoting their company with the Dai-Guard, now reduced down to a giant mascot. Nobody would expect the Heterodyne to also make their return...
Terrestrial Defense Corporation Dai-Guard in Super Robot Wars
Dai-Guard units fall under the super robot category. Unfortunately, for Dai-Guard, players must endure with Dai-Guard's absurdly poor early game, as Dai-Guard suffers from the same problem as the TV show in the game: it's slow, incapable of air combat, poorly armored, and can only engage in close range combat. As games progress, Dai-Guard will become able to deal with its problems with upgrades, optional parts, a large spirit command pool from its three pilots, and its innate resupply ability, which allows your units to be restocked at the expense of piling paperwork for 21st Century Defense Security Corporation's employees.
