They get into a rematch with Death Gaia in his new Zangaioh machine, on a battlefield known as the Red Space.  Dancouga attacks with the cannons on its flight pack and Ryo's martial arts, but Zangaioh is able to heal itself due to the red space and Dancouga is forced to destroy its flight pack to survive.  It finally unveils its true finisher, the Dankuuken, a sword with the power of the Gandor Cannon.  They manage to defeat Zangaioh by cutting it in half, standing in the space it would regenerate in, and killing Death Gaia.

After a long while of reminiscence (which took up around 70% of the OVA), they get into a rematch with Death Gaia in his new Zangaioh machine, on a battlefield known as the Red Space.  Dancouga attacks with the cannons on its flight pack and Ryo's martial arts, but Zangaioh is able to heal itself due to the red space and Dancouga is forced to destroy its flight pack to survive.  It finally unveils its true finisher, the Dankuuken, a sword with the power of the Gandor Cannon.  They manage to defeat Zangaioh by cutting it in half, standing in the space it would regenerate in, which consequently resulted in Zangaioh's destruction and Death Gaia's demise.
