Super Robot Wars/64/Story
Prologue
It has been two centuries since humanity, after overcrowding the Earth, moved into space. There are hundreds of space colonies surrounding the planet, and people have made these constructed lands into their second home. In this age, 80% of humanity lives in these colonies.
However, even given this situation, the government and some of the upper class who remained on Earth wished to control space. These elite sowed fear and distrust of the spacenoids and stepped up their oppression of the colonies.
In January of A.C.(After Colony) 191, the furthest colonies from the Earth, known as Side 3, formed the Duchy of Zeon and started a war for independence with the Earth Federation. This war, which lasted over half a year, claimed the lives of half of humanity -- a depth of gruesomeness never equaled before. The Earth Federation, which had the superior power, won the war, and both Zeon and the ruling Zabi family were destroyed. However, this was just the prelude to humanity's true sufferings.
In September of A.C. 191, a new threat appeared which was completely unimaginable. Invaders from far outer space, the Muge Zolbatos Kingdom, appeared. Earth was tired from the Zeon War, and the victorious Earth Federation was in shambles -- even so, in the middle of the sluggish rebuilding, they were drunk off their victory wine.
With overwhelming force, the Muge Zolbados empire invaded the Earth Sphere. Before their might, the Earth Federation lost without being able to mount any sort of counterattack. They attacked from orbit, reducing 70% of the Earth's cities to ashes, and the Earth Federation soon completely surrendered. Then, in December of the same year, the Earth Sphere was under the control of the alien empire.
After this war, known as the One Year War, the empire ruled Earth through severe oppression and strict regulation, controlling everything with fear. The establishment of the Empire's rule also spurred the nonhuman races from under the Earth to surface. All humanity dreaded its future.
Three years have passed, and in various places around the Earth, resistance movements are starting to form to oppose the Empire's rule.
It is After Colony 195, and the future of Earth is still in chaos and darkness.
