Mobile Suit Gundam/Amuro Ray
Biography
Mobile Suit Gundam
The son of the Gundam's designer, Tem Ray, Amuro is an alienated, antisocial young man who identifies better with machines than he does with people. Climbing into the Gundam's cockpit to save it from being stolen or destroyed, he finds himself serving as the White Base's main line of defense, against his own will. Through all of Amuro's development, he then begins to lose many people he had cherished, most importantly Lalah Sune, the only person he could telepathically communicate with. At the end of the war, Amuro, with his Gundam destroyed, realizes that the crew of the White Base is the family he belongs to and reunites with the surviving members as they flee the destruction of A Bao A Qu.
Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam
Pilot of the original Gundam during the One Year War, the Earth Federation now places him under house arrest since he is seen as a threat. Amuro during this time has gone into semi-retirement in order to deal with his post-traumatic stress disorder. Through his guilt over accidentally killing Lalah, Amuro also has a fear of going into outer space, as told by Mirai Noa. However, Fraw Bow and Katz Kobayashi manage to re-ignite his fighting spirit to help the crew of the Argama during their time on Earth. After joining Karaba (AEUG's earth-bound ally), Amuro became a key figure within the group, leading several crucial missions, including the attack on the Titan's base in Mount Kilimanjaro and the seizing of Federation's Congress Building in Dakar. After the operation in Dakar, and the AEUG's return to space, Karaba receives their new shipment of mass produced Zeta Gundams, the MSZ-006A1 Zeta Plus A1's to enhance their fighting strength. Amuro was given a Zeta Plus in his custom colors and was made commander of the 18th Tactical Fighter Aggressor Squadron (18TFAS) as part of the Karaba Air Force, and would be of great use in fighting both the remaining Titans on Earth, and the newly emerged Neo-Zeon.
Mobile Suit Gundam: Char's Counterattack
After the First Neo-Zeon War, Amuro joins the Earth Federation's Londo Bell group led by Bright Noa, and served as the combat squad commander. During the Second Neo-Zeon War, Amuro is assigned to the battleship Ra Cailum, Londo Bell's flagship, as the leader of the ship's mobile suit squads. Amuro initially pilots the RGZ-91 Re-GZ, but Anaheim Electronics soon delivers to him the RX-93 Nu Gundam, a highly advanced mobile suit largely designed by Amuro himself. It is widely believed that his relatively low status in the Earth Federation is a sign of the government's continued mistrust in Newtypes.
At the end of the Second Neo-Zeon War, after defeating Char's MSN-04 Sazabi in the duel and capturing Char's escape pod, Amuro attempted to singlehandedly stop the asteroid Axis from colliding with the Earth by pushing the asteroid with his Nu Gundam. His action inspired other mobile suit pilots to join in, even Neo-Zeon soldiers. Although he eventually succeeded, the act overloaded Nu Gundam's psychoframe construct. Both he and Char disappeared in a magnificent aurora, thus ending his long-time legacy of combat since the One Year War and concluding the most famous Mobile Suit Gundam rivalry at last.
Appearances In Super Robot Wars
Amuro appears in the majority of series either as his young, undeveloped One Year War age or as a respected veteran reflected upon Zeta and Char's Counterattack. The units initially piloted by Amuro are the typical agile real robot type units. Amuro will usually receive strong upgraded units by story or secrets that will make him a solid character throughout the game.

Amuro will first sortie out in these units or will eventually receive them as an upgrade.

Advance Timeline
In this game, Amuro starts off in the Original Gundam and he gets to fight various villains with the Londo Bell and gets the Full-Armor Gundam and Nu Gundam as upgrades. Like in the novelization of Mobile Suit Gundam, Amuro Ray's Shadow-Mirror counterpart died in the Battle of A-Baoa-Qu.

Alpha Timeline
In this timeline, the One-Year War got delayed by the crash of the Macross on Earth. As a result, he pilots the original Gundam during the events of Zeta Gundam and ZZ Gundam and gets to fight the Zabis with the Nu Gundam. At one point, he gets transported to Byston Well with the Argama.
In Alpha Gaiden, he gets held captive by the Titans. However, the Preventers break them free. After beating the Titans and the Neo Granzon, the Preventers get catapulted into the future, which seems to be based on a combination of Turn A Gundam, Gundam X and Xabungle. Amuro becomes interested in Turn A's technology and Tifa's Newtype abilities. When asked about certain things from the past, Amuro and the others keep quiet. Eventually, they get revealed during the Dark History event.
In Alpha 2, the events of Char's Counterattack occur. However, if the player does a few things, Amuro can ride in the Hi-Nu Gundam.
In Alpha 3, he experiences the events of Gundam Seed. In the GONG event, Char Aznable and Lalah appear as spirits and tell Amuro they are proud of Amuro for fighting for the people he cares about the most.
Destiny Timeline
In this timeline, Char was successful in starting the Axis Colony Drop because the Organization of the Zodiac took over the Federation. However, Earth was sealed away by a mysterious force. Neo Zeon and Amuro investigate and end up fighting the Gishin Empire, Invaders, Zanscare Empire, Protodevlin and the Ruina in the process. He also finds out that Judou, Roux and Kamille were the only survivors from their respective groups.

Reversal Timeline
In this timeline, Raul/Fiona Gureden knows the Char's Counterattack version. After averting the Axis Colony Drop in one roure, Duminuss shows up and tries to obtain the Time Flow Engine. The Ra Kailum takes immense damage in the process, killing Amuro and the Ra Kailum crew in the process. However, Raul/Fiona Gureden gets sent back in time in the process. They encounter the Post-Zeta Gundam Amuro and the Gundam X crew. As a result, Amuro gets the Nu Gundam earlier than expected and the events of Char's Counterattack are averted.

Z Timeline
In Super Robot Wars Z, this follows the movie incarnation of the Zeta Gundam timeline. However, Amuro gets the Nu Gundam during this game. When battling the Destroy Gundam, Amuro Ray advises the other characters on his side of ZEUTH that it should be fairly easy to immobilize due to its massive size, so it should be easy to avoid hitting the cockpit. Kira Yamato, being on the other side, doesn't get the memo, and kills Stella Louisser anyways (or seems to kill her: it turns out she survives if you meet certain requirements; otherwise, she dies). This is a possible Lampshade Hanging on what is one of Kira's worst decision in the series (as well as SRW's habit of showing how more experienced Amuro is compared to most other characters)
Asakim spends the first half of Hakai-Hen trying to do to Crow what he did to Setsuko and Rand. Before he gets the chance, Amuro, who was just teleported to the Z2 universe shows up and shoots the Shuroga in the face, screwing over Asakim's plan to betray Crow right there. He joins OZ at the end of the game with Quatro.
At one point in Saisei-Hen, Amuro becomes Ribbon's "guest" which is Ribbon's way of saying prisoner (if not a nicely treated one). He also gets special quotes with Ribbons when they fight.
