Story
35 years after the the war between humans and the alien Zentradi race came to end, mankind and their newfound allies have resettled on Earth. With the confirmation of existing alien species and the technological advances thanks to Zentradi and Protoculture technology, the United Nations and its adventurous citizens embark on fleets to explore the galaxy to find new allies and planets to settle. The Macross 7 is launched as part of the 37th Colonial Fleet. As the fleet ventures into the unknown, a young musician named Basara Nekki and his band called Fire Bomber will soon find themselves at the center of a new galactic conflict.

Super Robot Wars Appearances
Macross 7 is unique for bringing true supportive units into Super Robot Wars. These units cannot deal damage unless there are special circumstances, but their "attacks" or songs are used to give allies and surrounding units special benefits that can last for a good duration of battle. While there are also standard Macross Valkyrie fighter units, players should not underestimate the utility of support units. In the case where bullets, beams, and swords have little effect on the enemy, the power of music will prevail and the units of Macross 7 will shine brighter than the limelight.
